Examiners The Methodical Personality Type of the PURE System
Cautious and fastidious, examiners are the methodical personality type of the PURE system. Like the phlegmatic personality type described by the Ancient Greek physician Galen who built on Hippocrates' "four humors" system of personality typing, examiners are usually calm and unemotional. Like rulers they are task-focused and logical - with less awareness of emotional issues than persuaders and unifiers. Like unifiers they are introverted and change-averse, preferring things stay the same.
Examiners are interested in how a job should be done, more than getting to the end result. They enjoy the process and can over-complicate matters with their love of extraneous detail. They are the archetypal engineer personality type who can be prone to analysis paralysis - there's just so much information to process!
They hate being rushed and can become pedantic and extremely stubborn when pushed into a corner or forced into doing things differently without enough previous warning and sufficient explanation.
Famous examiners include Lisa Simpson and the Comic Store Guy, and in real-life Bill Gates, Harrison Ford and Stephen Hawking.
The examiner's motto: If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well.
